Thermal Fit Barrels
We heat the billet upper to a precise temperature so the barrel extension thermally locks into the receiver as it cools. That interference fit turns the barrel and upper into a single rigid assembly, cutting barrel shift and improving harmonics. The result: bolt-rifle-level accuracy and a more consistent point of impact under sustained fire and after maintenance.
Frictionless Upper Receiver
Our 7075-T6 billet uppers are machined and precision-ground to ultra-tight tolerances, then matched to an ArmorLube-coated BCG. That combination dramatically reduces internal friction and carbon hang-ups, producing smoother bolt velocity, less wear on contact surfaces, and more consistent cycling — especially during high-round-count use.
Proprietary Flat-Wire Buffer Spring
Our cryo-treated flat-wire buffer spring and matched buffer increase forward pressure and resist fatigue far longer than conventional round wire. Tested well past industry norms, it eliminates the spring “twang,” evens out recoil impulse, and preserves consistent lockup and ejection over hundreds of thousands of cycles — a cornerstone of long-term reliability.

Verified ownerI did a lot of research before deciding on this particular AR, as this will be the rifle I may depend on whenever "that situation" arises. After receiving the weapon I chose from their pull down menus and taking it to the range, I can say, as an owner of other ARs both mid and low range, this is a true machine you can depend on! They promised and delivered on a discount which helped.
My only issues with MItchell Defense have nothing to do with the weapon. I had a bit of trouble with their website, which I had to go to Instagram to get any assistance. I ordered 2 accessories with the rifle, a sling and a flashlight. When I recieved my weapon, the sling was missing and they shipped the wrong flashlight. to MD's credit, my issues were directly addressed my Nathan Mitchell himself and I have confidence they will stick to their word and send me the correct products.
I do not feel these setbacks are the norm or I would have found them in the conversations I've read about MD. If you want a truly dependable, heirloom rifle, you cannot go wrong.
