Law Enforcement Replacement Firearm Policy
Purpose:
This policy is established to support law enforcement officers who have purchased firearms from Mitchell Defense and subsequently require a replacement due to the use of their firearm in the line of duty, which results in its confiscation for investigative purposes.
Policy Statement:
We recognize the critical role that law enforcement officers play in maintaining public safety and the unique challenges they face. In the event that a law enforcement officer uses a firearm purchased from Mitchell Defense in the line of duty, and the firearm is taken into custody for investigation, we commit to providing a replacement firearm for the duration of the investigation, until the original firearm is returned.
Eligibility:
- The officer must have purchased the firearm from Mitchell Defense.
- The firearm must have been used in the line of duty and taken by a legal authority for investigative purposes.
- The officer must provide official documentation from their law enforcement agency confirming the firearm has been taken for investigative reasons.
Procedure:
- Notification: The officer, or their representative, must notify us of the incident and request a replacement firearm, providing all necessary documentation.
- Verification: Upon receipt of the request and accompanying documentation, we will verify the details with the respective law enforcement agency.
- Replacement Firearm Dispatch: Once verification is complete, a replacement firearm of the same model or the closest equivalent will be dispatched to the officer. The dispatch will occur within 48 hours of verification.
- Return of Replacement Firearm: Once the original firearm is returned to the officer, the replacement firearm must be returned to us in good working condition within 14 days. The officer will be responsible for ensuring that the firearm is returned with all issued accessories and documentation.
- Costs: There are none. We will cover any cost of shipping to the officer and returning back to us.
Limitations:
This policy does not apply to firearms lost, stolen, or damaged under circumstances other than those described above. It is also limited to one replacement firearm per incident.
Policy Review and Modifications:
This policy is subject to review and modification at any time. Changes to the policy will be communicated promptly to all affected parties.
